“I really like it from last year. I play clarinet so in the school I’m in the band
with just wind and percussion. So being with strings this year is unique”
Brandon - age 16, studied clarinet 5 years, OPUS Camp participant 2 years.
“I play the cello and I do orchestras outside of school and in school so I did it
last year and I thought it was really a fun camp”
Alexis - age 10, studied cello 7 years, OPUS Camp participant 2 years.
“I have been coming to the OPUS Camp since I was 12, and it has been a great experience
for me. It’s amazing how much you accomplish in just one week… you meet your group
and dive right into a new piece of music. You learn how important good communication
is, and building trust among your group members. The faculty really helps you see
different ways to play the same piece of music. By the end of the week your group
is an ensemble! You don’t realize how much you’ve grown until you get to the final
concert, and play with confidence… confidence in yourself, and your ensemble.”
Lauren - age 19, studied cello 9 years, OPUS School of Young Chamber Musicians,
OPUS Camp 6 years
“I’ve been coming to the camp for six years now, so I’m a senior. And I really like
OPUS because I just come here and I get inspired and I leave as this whole new person.
It is just awesome.”
Christy - age 15, studied violin 9 years, OPUS Camp participant 7 years
“All of a sudden it is not just myself. I have to relate to match the other people
in pitch, rhythm, sound, and feeling. This is a real challenge.”
Max - age 15, studied violin 11 years, OPUS Camp participant 6 years.
